Peer Assisted Learning (PAL)
PAL is an initiative of UCSI University to flourish the positive culture of learning excellence and academic development through student to student (s to s) method of delivery. Owned by the Centre of Excellence for Learning and Teaching (CELT), all sessions are led by trained P.A.L. student mentors. The mentors are past students of the course who have been successful in their academic performance.
Throughout the 10-11 weeks, mentors are to coordinate with CELT to conduct minimum of 20 hours of face to face study sessions with mentee. Attendance is to be recorded. Workshops will be carried out to foster mentor’s commitment and mentoring skills (accounted for minimum 5 hours). Remaining hours are designated for meeting with lecturers, mentors to arrange their mentoring materials, and class preparation. CELT will also involve the PAL mentors for on-going research purposes. For short semester, the hours will be adjusted accordingly to make 25 hours.
