In the year 2000, the dot-com boom happened and Ganesh saw this as an opportunity to move forward. He started looking for funding and managed to get the attention of Tan Sir Vincent Tan of Berjaya Group to invest in his vision. At that time, Tan Sri Vincent Tan had invested an estimation of over USD65million in about 30 Internet companies but only two of these companies survived.

One of them being Ganesh’s company. Ganesh finally made his first million at the age 23 and has been recognised since as a key IT leader in Malaysia. He has also received numerous awards for his business achievements.

In December 2009, Ganesh led MOL Global in the acquisition of 100 per cent of Friendster Inc., a leading global online social network with more than 115 million registered members worldwide.

Today, MOL Global is one of Southeast Asia’s biggest internet companies, both in terms of revenue and member base, that combines the huge member base of Friendster with the content and monetisation capability of MOL.
