She has been dabbling in the arena of diving since she was a child. At the age of seven, she was recognised as a state diver – from then on, there was no turning back. She continued her training at the Bukit Jalil Sports School (BJSS) and went on to become the first female Malaysian athlete to win a medal at the Olympics, as well as the first to win an Olympic medal in a sport other than badminton.

She became Malaysia’s first female flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics where she competed in the individual 10m platform and the 10m platform synchronised event with her partner Leong Mun Yee. In honour of her success, she was presented the Johan Bintang Kenyalang (Companion of the Order of the Star of Hornbill) by the Sarawak State Government in a special investiture ceremony, held at the Astana shortly after her triumphant return to her homeland.
